Engine guide
Bootmod3 is Samuel's primary platform for F-series MINI B48 / B46 builds. Your custom map is delivered over the air to the BM3 app and flashed at home from your phone. In-app logging lets Samuel pull your data remotely and adjust the calibration after the first run.
MHD is fully supported on the MINI B48 / B46. Map delivery and flashing work the same way as BM3: custom file to the app, flashed at home. MHD is a solid fit for flex-fuel and E85 builds and performs well on the B48 in either direction.
MG Flasher is supported on select MINI DMEs where BM3 and MHD are not the preferred fit. Samuel confirms from your VIN which platform is right. If MG Flasher is what your car needs, the remote delivery and calibration process is the same as the other platforms.
Some F-series MINIs are locked from the factory. Some are not. Samuel checks your VIN before the build starts. If an unlock is needed, it goes in the quote.
The Cooper S and JCW run the BMW B48 turbo four, badged B46 in the US. It is the same engine family as the 320i and 330i, so it responds to a tune in exactly the same way. The difference is the chassis: a lighter, shorter front-drive MINI means every extra Nm shows up immediately in how the car drives. Stage 1 is a software-only remap on stock hardware. No parts to buy or fit. Samuel calibrates the map to your specific car from your datalogs, not a generic file pulled off a shelf. That is what keeps boost and timing in the right place for your fuel and your car. When you want more, Stage 2 adds a downpipe and intake where applicable. That is the hardware path that opens up the bigger numbers and gives the calibration more to work with.

No. Stage 1 is software only on stock hardware. You do not need a downpipe, intake or any other parts before you start. Hardware comes into the picture at Stage 2, when you are ready for the bigger numbers.
