About this tune
The F56 Cooper S shares its B48 turbo four with the BMW 320i/330i (badged B46 on US emissions cars). Stage 1 is software-only on stock hardware; Stage 2 adds an intercooler, sports cat/decat and intake. Note the low-compression Cooper S has weaker pistons than the JCW — JCW-level power needs forged internals first. 99 RON is strongly recommended on any aggressive map.
MINI Cooper S 3-door Hatch tuning
The MINI Cooper S 3-door Hatch (F56, 2014–2024) runs the B48 / B46 (US) 2.0L turbocharged inline-four (BMW B48 / B46 US-spec) and leaves the factory at 189–192 bhp · 280 Nm, FWD, 6-speed manual or 7-speed DCT. Samuel tunes the F56 3-door Hatch to the same standard — every map hand-calibrated for the specific car, its fuel grade and its installed hardware, not a base file loaded and left. Cooper S 3-door Stage 1 alone takes it from 189–192 bhp · 280 Nm to 245–260 bhp · 360–400 Nm on the standard turbo, flashed over OBD on BM3, MHD or MG Flasher.
Add the Stage 2 hardware and the Cooper S 3-door targets 270–285 bhp · 420–460 Nm; from there the B48 / B46 (US) stretches to around 400 bhp on a hybrid or big-turbo build with supporting fuelling. Whichever stage suits the Cooper S 3-door, the file is delivered within 24 hours and is fully reversible to the supplied stock calibration.

MINI Cooper S tuning — B48 / B46 stages, hardware and what to expect (F54 / F55 / F56 / F57 / F60)
The MINI Cooper S runs the BMW B48 2.0-litre turbocharged four — the same engine as the BMW 320i / 330i, badged B46 on US emissions cars. Across the range (F56 3-door, F55 5-door, F57 Convertible, F54 Clubman, F60 Countryman) it leaves the factory around 189–192 bhp, with meaningful headroom left in the calibration for warranty and global fuel variation. MINI Cooper S tuning with Samuel starts by finding exactly where that headroom sits on your specific car and fuel, then building a map that extracts it reliably. One reliability point shapes every Cooper S build: the low-compression Cooper S piston is weaker than the JCW's, so the safe road to big power runs through forged internals before JCW-plus figures.
Stage 1
245–260 bhp · 360–400 Nm
ECU/DME software only, flashed via the OBD port on stock hardware. Sharper throttle, a much broader torque curve and the response the Cooper S should have shipped with. The most cost-effective single change on the platform. 99 RON strongly recommended for the full figure.
Every MINI Cooper S tune Samuel produces is calibrated individually for the specific car, fuel grade and installed hardware, and reviewed against your data logs before sign-off — never a base map loaded and left.
Compatibility
Platform and hardware compatibility

Bootmod3 (BM3)
Full support for the B48 / B46 MINI range (Cooper S and JCW across F54, F55, F56, F57, F60). OBD-port flashing on the MEVD17 / MG1CS003 DME, realtime monitoring via the BM3 app. The most widely used platform for MINI B48 tuning.

MHD
B48 support suitable for Stage 1 and Stage 2 on the MINI range. Strong data-logging toolset for verifying lambda, ignition correction and intake temperatures after each flash — especially useful for keeping the low-compression Cooper S safe.

MG Flasher
Full B48 / MINI support on the MG1CS003 DME. Clean interface and a reliable flash process, a common choice for owners who prefer the MG ecosystem.

xHP Flashtool
For MINIs fitted with the Aisin/ZF automatic. Recommended at Stage 2 where torque climbs, to handle the extra load cleanly. Manual cars do not need xHP.

ECU: MEVD17 / MG1CS003 DME across MINI B48 production (B46 = US emissions-equivalent code, same engine). Accessible via the OBD port — no bench flash required for Stage 1 or Stage 2.

FAQ
Cooper S 3-door tuning — frequently asked questions
Cooper S 3-door Stage 1 lifts the B48 / B46 (US) from a stock 189–192 bhp · 280 Nm to 245–260 bhp · 360–400 Nm, with no hardware required. The map is flashed through the OBD port on BM3, MHD or MG Flasher and is the starting point for almost every Cooper S 3-door owner — broader torque and sharper throttle response from the factory hardware.
This page covers the F56 3-door Hatch (F56). They share the B48 / B46 (US) 2.0L turbocharged inline-four (BMW B48 / B46 US-spec) and run the same core calibration, but every Cooper S 3-door tune Samuel delivers is tailored to your exact car, fuel grade and installed hardware — never a base map loaded and left.
Stage 2 on the Cooper S 3-door targets 270–285 bhp · 420–460 Nm and needs intercooler + decat/sports cat + intake (cooler plugs advised). Everything else — turbo, fuel system, intercooler — holds within the Stage 2 figures on the B48 / B46 (US).
On the right hardware spec the B48 / B46 (US) in the Cooper S 3-door reaches around 400 bhp. Stage 1 and Stage 2 run the standard turbo; beyond that needs a hybrid or full big-turbo conversion with supporting fuelling, and the calibration is built bespoke per car.
Remotely. Once Samuel has your build details, the calibrated Cooper S 3-door map is delivered to your flashing tool account (BM3, MHD or MG Flasher) within 24 hours and you flash it yourself over OBD in about 15 minutes. It's fully reversible — the original B48 / B46 (US) stock file is supplied before you flash, so the car can return to factory at any time.
A factory warranty can be voided if BMW shows a tune caused a specific failure, so it's a personal call. Samuel's Cooper S 3-door maps are calibrated to stay within the mechanical limits of the B48 / B46 (US) hardware, and because the tune is reversible to stock before any dealer visit, many owners run a tuned Cooper S 3-door without issue.
