MHD by engine code & model

The right MHD tune
for your BMW.

Find your engine code or model below, see what MHD offers it, then enquire. From the B58 and N55 to the M-car S55 and S58, and across the 335i, 340i, M140i, M240i, M340i and M4, we will point you at the right map and licence.

How this works

One hub. Engine or model.

MHD support is organised by what is under your bonnet, and the same engine appears across several cars. So the right map, the right stage and the right hardware all come back to your engine code. Below is the quick route from engine or model to enquiry.

What every car here gets

  • 01

A calibration developed and tested on real cars, not theory

  • 02

Off-the-shelf Stage 1 and Stage 2 where supported by the platform

  • 03

Custom remote tuning for non-standard fuelling and hardware

  • 04

Honest advice on the MHD licence, OBD interface and what to expect

N54

MHD

Twin-turbo 3.0 six-cylinder

Found in: 135i, 1M, 335i, 535i, Z4 sDrive35i / 35is and related E-chassis

The N54 is the original tuner six and MHD has long been a go-to platform for it. MHD N54 maps deliver a strong, responsive car on the stock setup, with proven headroom for downpipes, fuelling and bigger turbo builds once you go further.

What MHD offers it

  • Off-the-shelf maps for stock and bolt-on N54 setups
  • Stage 2 once a downpipe and intake are fitted
  • Custom remote support for hybrid and big-turbo builds

N55

MHD

Single-turbo 3.0 six-cylinder

Found in: F-chassis 135i/235i, 335i/435i, M2 (N55), X3/X4 35i and related

The N55 single-turbo six is one of the most popular MHD platforms we tune. MHD N55 maps give a clean, linear power curve and a noticeably more eager engine, a brilliant starting point whether you keep it simple or build it up.

What MHD offers it

  • Proven Stage 1 map with no hardware required
  • Stage 2 calibration for downpipe and intake builds
  • Custom remote work for FBO, larger turbo and methanol setups

B48

MHD

Modular single-turbo 2.0 four-cylinder

Found in: B-series 120i to 330i, 230i, X1/X2, Z4 sDrive20i/30i and Supra 2.0

The B48 is BMW’s modern 2.0 turbo four and it takes very well to an MHD calibration. Expect a fuller mid-range, crisper response and a more grown-up power delivery, a genuinely worthwhile lift on a daily-driven car. Availability varies by exact car, so confirm yours with us.

What MHD offers it

  • Off-the-shelf maps for stock fuelling and hardware where supported
  • Stage 2 with a downpipe and intake fitted
  • Custom support for mixed or unusual specs

B58

MHD

Modular single-turbo 3.0 six-cylinder

Found in: M140i/M240i, 340i/440i, 540i, Z4 M40i, Supra 3.0, X3 M40i and related

The B58 is one of the standout engines of the modern era and an MHD B58 tune is one of the most rewarding upgrades you can make. Strong, reliable and with real headroom in the standard hardware, it gains substantially in both power and torque on software alone.

What MHD offers it

  • Off-the-shelf Stage 1 map, no hardware needed
  • Stage 2 for downpipe and intake builds
  • Custom remote calibration for high-output and built engines

S55

MHD

Twin-turbo 3.0 M six-cylinder

Found in: F80 M3, F82/F83 M4 and F87 M2 Competition

The S55 is the M engine behind the F80 M3 and F82 M4. On MHD it is transformed, the twin-turbo setup loves software and the car comes alive with stronger delivery right across the rev range. A favourite for both road and track.

What MHD offers it

  • Stage 1 and Stage 2 maps to suit your hardware
  • Support for downpipes, intakes, intercooling and fuelling
  • Custom remote work for FBO and built engines

S58

MHD

Twin-turbo 3.0 M six-cylinder

Found in: G80 M3, G82/G83 M4, X3 M / X4 M and related G-chassis M cars

The S58 powers the latest G-chassis M cars and is an exceptional engine straight out of the box. An MHD S58 calibration sharpens response and unlocks the performance the hardware is clearly built to handle, while keeping everything measured and controlled.

What MHD offers it

  • Off-the-shelf maps for stock and common bolt-on hardware
  • Hardware-aware calibration for downpipes, intakes and cooling
  • Custom remote support for higher-output builds

Prefer to browse by car?

Here are the popular models people search for on MHD, with the engine each one runs. Pick yours and enquire, and we will map it back to the right MHD calibration.

335i

N54 / N55

Whether your 335i runs the twin-turbo N54 or the single-turbo N55, MHD is a proven choice. Expect a much more eager car on the stock setup, with clear Stage 2 gains once a downpipe and intake go on.

340i

B58

The B58-powered 340i is one of the most rewarding cars to run on MHD. Strong power and torque gains on software alone, with plenty of headroom for downpipe and intake builds and custom work beyond.

M140i

B58

The M140i is a B58 hot hatch that comes alive with an MHD tune. A fuller mid-range and sharper response on the stock hardware, then Stage 2 once bolt-ons are fitted, all calibrated to your spec.

M240i

B58

The B58 M240i responds superbly to MHD, picking up serious real-world performance on software alone. A great platform whether you keep it stock or build toward a downpipe and intake setup.

M340i

B58

The M340i pairs the B58 with the G20 chassis and takes very well to MHD. Strong, linear gains on the standard hardware, with Stage 2 and custom routes available as your build develops.

M4

S55 / S58

From the F82 M4 on the S55 to the G82 M4 on the S58, MHD transforms the car. The twin-turbo M engine loves software, delivering stronger response everywhere and real headroom for hardware-led builds.

FAQ

MHD by engine and model, answered.

Which BMW engines does MHD support?

MHD covers a wide range of BMW petrol engines including the N54, N55, B48, B58, S55 and S58. Coverage and the exact maps available can depend on your specific model, year and gearbox, so tell us your engine code and chassis and we will confirm what is available for your car.

Is MHD by engine or by model?

Both, and they line up. The same engine appears across several cars, so a 335i on the N54 or N55, a 340i, M140i, M240i or M340i on the B58, and an M4 on the S55 or S58 all map back to an engine and the right MHD calibration for it. Find your engine or your model below and enquire either way.

Do I need a licence and an adapter for MHD?

MHD flashes over the OBD port, so you typically need the MHD app, a compatible MHD licence for your vehicle and a supported OBD interface rather than a soldered adapter. We will confirm exactly what your car needs on the MHD licence and MHD adapter pages and get you set up.

What is the difference between an off-the-shelf and a custom MHD map?

Off-the-shelf maps are pre-built calibrations validated for stock or common bolt-on hardware, ideal for most B58, N55 and S58 builds. Custom remote tuning is calibrated specifically to your car and is the right route for non-standard fuelling, larger turbos, methanol or built engines.

How do I get an MHD tune for my car?

Message Samuel with your engine code, model, year and any modifications. We will confirm the right MHD licence, OBD interface and map for your car and get you running. Most off-the-shelf calibrations can be delivered remotely so you can flash from home.
