Bootmod3 BMW tuning.
Flashed and revised from anywhere.

Bootmod3 — BM3 — is one of the leading ECU tuning platforms for modern BMW, Mini and Toyota Supra. Flash custom software, datalog, map-switch and manage your calibration from a phone, tablet or laptop. At SamuelTuned, BM3 is used for custom remote tuning, so the car can be calibrated wherever it is in the world.

Bootmod3 is also called BM3 — same platform, shorter name.

What it is

Bootmod3 in plain terms.

Bootmod3 is a cloud-based ECU tuning and flashing platform built for modern BMW, Mini and Toyota Supra. Once your ECU is supported — and unlocked where required — the factory ECU is programmed through the car's OBD port. No removed ECUs, no laptop bench work to start a tune.

Through BM3 you flash tuning files, change maps, record datalogs, check fault codes and manage your calibration from a phone, tablet or laptop. The included map editor opens the platform up to fully custom calibration work — not just off-the-shelf files.

The platform

Bootmod3 is the connection, flashing and logging system — the bridge between your phone and the ECU.

The tune

The tune is the actual calibration file loaded into the car — what controls boost, fuelling, timing and torque.

Both matter. BM3 makes the workflow possible. The performance, safety and drivability of the car comes from the quality of the calibration loaded through it.

What it lets you do

One platform.
Everything you need to flash, log and revise.

Why use Bootmod3?

Built for remote tuning, end to end.

BM3 is one of the strongest options for BMW remote tuning because the customer and the tuner work in the same platform. Once your licence and hardware are in place, files flash from your phone, datalogs upload to the cloud, and revised calibrations come back through the same workflow.

Hardware

Everything you need to flash and tune.

Coming soon to this site — the right adapter, cable and licence for your car, in one place.

Recommended

Bootmod3 WiFi adapter

The easiest connection method for most customers. Wireless flashing, datalogging, diagnostics and map management — no laptop, no cables threaded through the cabin.

  • Wireless connection to the vehicle
  • Cleaner, faster setup
  • Best for repeat remote-tuning revisions
  • Convenient for ongoing diagnostics & logging
Wired

Bootmod3 ENET cable

A wired ENET cable used with a laptop, ethernet adapter or mobile-device adapter. Reliable for setup and flashing — preferred by some customers — but most owners on the F/G platforms favour the wireless adapter for day-to-day use.

  • Reliable wired connection
  • Works with laptop or mobile adapters
  • Useful as a backup connection

Bootmod3 licence

Required to use BM3 on your vehicle. The licence gives you access to the flashing system, your vehicle account, and the ability to manage maps, logs and tuning files.

  • Per-vehicle licence
  • Access to flashing & map management
  • Required before any tune is loaded

Inside the platform

What each feature actually does.

ECU flashing

Flash the factory ECU through the OBD port — install, update or revise tuning software without removing the ECU.

Datalogging

Records what the ECU is actually doing under load — boost, throttle closure, ignition timing, knock, fuel pressure, lambda, torque limits and more. Every revision is built from real data, not guesswork.

Map switching

Switch between calibration slots on supported cars: pump fuel, ethanol blend, race fuel, low-boost, high-boost, valet, track, drag — without re-flashing each time.

Flex fuel

Compatible cars adjust calibration based on real-time ethanol content. No manual flashing every time the fuel mix changes.

Ethanol tuning

E30, E40, E50 or E85 calibrations on supported B58, S58, S55, N55 and Supra platforms — matched to your fuel system, turbo and actual ethanol content.

Anti-lag

Available on supported setups for faster boost response. Most relevant on larger turbos, drag and roll-race builds. Configured around your specific hardware and use case.

Burble settings

Adjustable overrun behaviour on many BMW platforms. Tuned sensibly — burble aggression that bakes catalysts is not on the table.

Map editor

BM3 isn't limited to off-the-shelf files. The included map editor is what makes proper custom calibration and per-car revisions possible.

Diagnostics

Read and clear fault codes during setup, hardware checks, tuning revisions and post-flash troubleshooting.

OTS vs custom

Off-the-shelf, or built for your car.

An off-the-shelf BM3 map can be enough on a near-standard car. But it is not built around your engine, your fuel, your turbo or your datalog results — and that limits how far it can take you.

Off-the-shelf

OTS map

Designed to work across a wide range of cars. Limitations to be aware of:

  • Not built from your own datalogs
  • May not suit local fuel quality
  • May not match your exact hardware
  • Won't solve vehicle-specific issues
  • Often leaves performance on the table
  • May not deliver the drivability you want

Built for you

Custom Bootmod3 tune

A custom BM3 tune is the right route once your car has supporting hardware, ethanol or specific performance goals. The calibration is built around your actual setup — and revised against real datalogs until the car behaves the way it should.

Especially useful for

  • Stage 2 vehicles
  • Ethanol blend setups
  • Flex fuel setups
  • Hybrid turbo builds
  • Big turbo builds
  • Track cars
  • Drag cars
  • Boost-control & throttle-closure issues
  • Fuelling-limited builds
  • Owners wanting calibration built around their actual car

Tune stages

Where your car sits today.

Stage 1

Mostly standard, more performance

The right starting point on a near-stock car: improved power and drivability without major hardware. Common on M140i, M240i, 340i, 440i, M135i, M235i, 230i, 330i, G80 M3, G82 M4 and Supra 3.0.

Stage 2

Built around supporting hardware

Once the supporting hardware is in (downpipe, intake, intercooler, fuel pump, plugs, cooling), Stage 2 lets the calibration take advantage of it. Strong on B58, S58, S55, N55 and Supra.

Stage 3 / Custom

Hybrid + big-turbo builds

Generic files rarely suit larger turbos — airflow, boost control and torque behaviour are completely different. Custom BM3 calibration is built around your actual turbo, fuel system and datalogs.

Remote tuning

How a tune goes from request to drive.

  1. Step 01

    Get the right hardware

You'll need the correct Bootmod3 hardware to connect to the car — typically the BM3 WiFi adapter. Available directly from this site.

  2. Step 02

Set up the app & license

Install Bootmod3, register your vehicle and activate the licence covering your engine family.

  3. Step 03

    Check ECU unlock

Newer BMW G-series and modern Bosch MG1/MD1 ECUs need to be unlocked first. If yours is locked, that step happens before any flashing.

  4. Step 04

    Flash the first file

Samuel issues your first calibration file. You flash it through Bootmod3 from your phone.

  5. Step 05

    Record datalogs

You drive the car under the requested conditions and record the datalogs Samuel asks for.

  6. Step 06

    Receive revisions

Samuel reviews the logs, refines the calibration and sends a revised file. You re-flash and run another log set.

  7. Step 07

    Finalise the tune

Once the data shows the car behaving exactly as it should, the calibration is finalised and you keep driving.

ECU unlock

Some ECUs need unlocking first.

Some vehicles require ECU unlocking before BM3 can flash the ECU — especially modern BMW G-series cars and Bosch MG1/MD1 ECUs. If yours is locked, BM3 can't write tuning software until the unlock is completed (in-house or via FEMTO/Autotuner depending on the ECU).

ECU unlock guide

Unlock typically required for

  • BMW G-series vehicles
  • BMW B58 MG1 ECUs
  • BMW S58 MG1 ECUs
  • BMW B48 MG1 ECUs
  • BMW S55 MED17.2.G ECUs
  • BMW N55 late ECUs
  • Post-2020 BMW ECUs
  • Toyota Supra B58 ECUs
