About this tune
The F57 JCW Convertible shares the B48 turbo four with the Cooper S but leaves the factory in a stronger state of tune (~228–231 bhp). Stage 1 is software-only; Stage 2 adds an intercooler, sports cat/decat and intake. 99 RON strongly recommended on any aggressive map.
MINI John Cooper Works Convertible tuning
No open-top MINI goes harder than the JCW Convertible — it is the full John Cooper Works package with the roof deleted, and it occupies a small, likeable niche: a serious hot hatch drivetrain in a car built for sensation. Tuning suits it perfectly, because everything a remap improves — noise, response, mid-range punch — is amplified when there is nothing between you and the exhaust.
The B48 arrives in JCW tune at 228–231 bhp and 320 Nm. Stage 1 from Samuel lifts the Convertible to 270–290 bhp and 380–420 Nm through calibration alone, while Stage 2 — built on an intercooler, sports cat or decat and intake — reaches for 290–310 bhp and 440–470 Nm on the standard turbo. Every figure is delivered by a file written for your individual car.
For the rare owner who wants an open-top sleeper, a hybrid or larger turbo takes the platform towards 400 bhp as a consulted build. Logistics stay simple regardless of ambition: the tune arrives through BM3, MHD or MG Flasher inside 24 hours, flashes over OBD wherever the car sits, and steps back to the factory file whenever you ask it to.

MINI John Cooper Works tuning — B48 / B46 stages and hardware (F56 / F57 JCW)
The MINI John Cooper Works runs the same BMW B48 turbo four as the Cooper S, but leaves the factory in a higher state of tune (~228–231 bhp on the F56 hatch and F57 Convertible). The JCW also uses stronger internals than the low-compression Cooper S, so it carries Stage 2 figures more comfortably. MINI JCW tuning with Samuel is about extracting the calibration headroom cleanly across the range, then scaling with hardware where you want more.
Stage 1
270–290 bhp · 380–420 Nm
ECU/DME software only on stock hardware via the OBD port. The JCW responds cleanly to a proper calibration across the rev range. 99 RON strongly recommended.
Every MINI JCW tune is calibrated individually for the specific car, fuel grade and hardware, and reviewed against your data logs before sign-off.
Compatibility
Platform and hardware compatibility

Bootmod3 (BM3)
Full support for the B48 / B46 MINI range (Cooper S and JCW across F54, F55, F56, F57, F60). OBD-port flashing on the MEVD17 / MG1CS003 DME, realtime monitoring via the BM3 app. The most widely used platform for MINI B48 tuning.

MHD
B48 support suitable for Stage 1 and Stage 2 on the MINI range. Strong data-logging toolset for verifying lambda, ignition correction and intake temperatures after each flash — especially useful for keeping the low-compression Cooper S safe.

MG Flasher
Full B48 / MINI support on the MG1CS003 DME. Clean interface and a reliable flash process, a common choice for owners who prefer the MG ecosystem.

xHP Flashtool
For MINIs fitted with the Aisin/ZF automatic. Recommended at Stage 2 where torque climbs, to handle the extra load cleanly. Manual cars do not need xHP.

ECU: MEVD17 / MG1CS003 DME across MINI B48 production (B46 = US emissions-equivalent code, same engine). Accessible via the OBD port — no bench flash required for Stage 1 or Stage 2.

FAQ
JCW Convertible tuning — frequently asked questions
It gets the same stage targets — the engine is identical — but never a copied file. Samuel calibrates each car against its own spec sheet: gearbox, fuel grade, region and fitted hardware. Two F57 JCWs with different parts get genuinely different files, and a Convertible is never just handed the hatch's map with the name changed.
Character as much as numbers. The 290–310 bhp and 440–470 Nm are real, but the sports cat or decat that Stage 2 requires also transforms how the car sounds — and in a JCW Convertible you hear all of it, all the time. Fit the intercooler and intake alongside and the package is as complete as this body gets on the stock turbo.
From 228–231 bhp and 320 Nm up to 270–290 bhp and 380–420 Nm, with the hardware left entirely standard. On the road it reads as a much more insistent mid-range and a crisper throttle — the areas the factory map deliberately softens — and it needs nothing but a 15-minute OBD flash.
In about a quarter of an hour, yes. The original JCW calibration is saved before your first flash and stays in your flashing tool's account, so returning to factory software before a service — and re-flashing the tune afterwards — is something you do yourself, no appointment required.
The platform continues to around 400 bhp via a larger or hybrid turbo with supporting fuelling, and forged internals for the top end of that range. It is handled as a consultation: send Samuel the full intended spec over WhatsApp, and the calibration and quote are built around that exact combination rather than a menu price.
