About this tune
The F57 Cooper S Convertible shares its B48 turbo four with the hatch (badged B46 on US emissions cars). Stage 1 is software-only on stock hardware; Stage 2 adds an intercooler, sports cat/decat and intake. The low-compression Cooper S needs forged internals before JCW-level power is safe. 99 RON strongly recommended.

Drop the roof and a Cooper S becomes a different kind of fast car — less about lap times, more about how good the drive feels. The F57 Convertible, built from 2016 to 2024, is bought for sunny B-roads rather than track days, and that is precisely why owners tune it: a fat, easy wave of mid-range torque suits open-top driving far better than a peaky top end.
In standard form the Convertible carries the familiar 189–192 bhp and 280 Nm. A Stage 1 calibration from Samuel takes it to 245–260 bhp and 360–400 Nm — software only, no parts — and it is the torque figure that transforms the car, letting it surge between corners with the roof stowed. Stage 2 hardware lifts things again to 270–285 bhp and 420–460 Nm.
There is a longer road available too: with forged internals and a larger turbo the platform stretches towards 400 bhp, quoted per build. The whole service happens wherever the car is parked — Samuel writes your file, sends it to your BM3, MHD or MG Flasher account within a day, and the factory calibration stays on hand so the Convertible can revert to stock at will.

The MINI Cooper S runs the BMW B48 2.0-litre turbocharged four — the same engine as the BMW 320i / 330i, badged B46 on US emissions cars. Across the range (F56 3-door, F55 5-door, F57 Convertible, F54 Clubman, F60 Countryman) it leaves the factory around 189–192 bhp, with meaningful headroom left in the calibration for warranty and global fuel variation. MINI Cooper S tuning with Samuel starts by finding exactly where that headroom sits on your specific car and fuel, then building a map that extracts it reliably. Cooper S Convertible tuning — frequently asked questions
The calibration principles are the same — it is the same B48 engine — but every file is written for the individual car, its gearbox, fuel and fitted parts rather than copied across from a hatch map. What changes most is emphasis: Convertible owners usually want smooth, muscular mid-range delivery, and Samuel shapes the torque curve accordingly.
It moves the Convertible from 189–192 bhp and 280 Nm to 245–260 bhp and 360–400 Nm without a single hardware change. The extra 80–120 Nm through the middle of the rev range is what you notice roof-down — overtakes shrink and the car stops needing to be revved out to feel quick.
An upgraded intercooler, a sports cat or decat, and an intake, ideally with one-step-colder plugs. Together they support 270–285 bhp and 420–460 Nm on the standard turbo. A pleasant side effect with the roof down: the freer-breathing exhaust gives the Cooper S a noticeably better voice.
Yes. The remap lives in the engine ECU, so both transmissions are covered, and Samuel calibrates torque delivery to suit whichever your car has — automatics get delivery shaped to protect the gearbox at full load, manuals get a linear curve that is easy to meter out of tight corners.
