BMW M5 (F10) tuning
Fifteen years on, the F10 M5 has become the accessible way into a 550-horsepower super-saloon. Built from 2010 to 2017 as a rear-wheel-drive four-door with the seven-speed DCT, it was the car that moved the M5 from high-revving V10 to twin-turbo V8, and used values now put serious performance within reach. Most owners tune because the platform so obviously has more in it than BMW shipped.
From the factory the F10 leaves with 552 bhp and 680 Nm. Samuel's Stage 1 calibration lifts that to 650 bhp and 850 Nm with no hardware changes, and Stage 2, with downpipes and intakes fitted, takes the standard turbos to 720 bhp and 900 Nm. Each file is written for your individual car rather than adapted from a generic base, matched to its fuel and its fitted parts.
Past Stage 2 the F10 becomes a project car in the best sense: hybrid or full-frame turbos carry it towards 1,000 bhp with supporting fuelling behind them. Everything happens remotely through BM3, MHD or MG Flasher, with your file arriving inside 24 hours. Remember the S63 carries two DMEs, each needing a one-time unlock before the very first flash; after that the car flashes freely, and returning to the stock file takes minutes.

BMW M5 F10 tuning, stages, hardware and what to expect from the S63 V8
The F10 M5 runs the S63, BMW M's 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8, with twin-scroll housings and direct injection. From the factory, BMW M calibrated the F10 M5 at 552 bhp / 680 Nm (Competition trim 567 / 680). BMW M5 F10 tuning with Samuel exploits the substantial fuelling and turbo headroom the S63 carries from the factory, Stage 1 alone closes the gap to a stock F90 M5. The MEVD17.2.G DME flashes cleanly via the OBD port; no bench work required.
Stage 1
650 bhp · 850 Nm
No hardware required. The MEVD17.2.G DME is flashed via the OBD port, boost pressure, ignition timing, fuel delivery and torque limiters all revised. BMW M5 F10 Stage 1 unlocks 650 bhp / 850 Nm from the OEM hardware (up from 552-567 / 680 stock), with significantly more accessible torque through the mid-range. The single most cost-effective change available on the F10 M5.
Every M5 F10 tune Samuel produces is calibrated individually for the specific car, fuel grade and installed hardware, not a base map loaded and left. BMW M5 F10 tuning done correctly accounts for the F10 chassis behaviour, the M-DCT gearbox calibration and UK fuel quality; the map is reviewed against your data logs after the first flash and revised before sign-off.
Compatibility
Platform and hardware compatibility

Bootmod3 (BM3)
Full S63 support across every chassis in the family (M5 F10, M5 F90, M6 F1x, M8, X5 M, X6 M). MEVD17 and MG1 DME OBD flashing, realtime monitoring via the BM3 app. The most widely used platform for S63 tuning.

MHD
Full S63 support across the M5 F10 / F90, M6, M8 and X5 M / X6 M platforms. Suitable for Stage 1 and Stage 2. Strong data-logging toolset for verifying air/fuel, ignition and oil temperature on a sustained pull.

MG Flasher
Full S63 support. Clean interface and reliable flash process, a common choice for F90 M5 and M8 owners running the MG1 DME.

xHP Flashtool
Compatible with the ZF 8HP gearbox fitted to every S63 chassis. Strongly recommended at Stage 2 where torque jumps to 900 Nm, the OEM shift logic isn't calibrated for that delivery. Available as an add-on.

FAQ
M5 (F10) tuning — frequently asked questions
It can. BMW calibrated the first-generation S63 conservatively, and Stage 1 releases that margin: 552 bhp and 680 Nm become 650 bhp and 850 Nm with every mechanical part left standard. The file writes through the OBD port using BM3, MHD or MG Flasher, and the difference is felt most in mid-range pull rather than just the headline number.
The F10 sends everything rearward, so Samuel shapes the torque delivery to build progressively rather than arrive in one hit. At 720 bhp and 900 Nm with downpipes and intakes, traction in the lower gears becomes the limiting factor before the drivetrain does, which makes decent tyres matter more than any mechanical concern at this stage.
The S63 V8 runs a pair of DMEs, one per cylinder bank, and each has to be unlocked before it will accept a modified calibration. It is a single job done once in the car's life; every flash afterwards, including going back to the standard file, happens normally over OBD.
The tune is an engine calibration, so the M DCT stays exactly as BMW built it. Torque is shaped with the transmission in mind, keeping shifts clean under load, and Samuel will always match the map's delivery to the hardware actually in the car rather than chasing a number the driveline dislikes.
Yes, octane is one of the first things Samuel asks for. The quoted Stage 1 and Stage 2 figures assume good-quality super unleaded; run something lower and the calibration is adjusted to suit rather than left to pull timing on its own. State your usual fuel when you order and the file is built around it.
