About this tune
The F80 M3 (2014-2018) is the first turbocharged M3, the saloon-only body with the S55 twin-scroll twin-turbo straight-six underneath. Stock is 425 bhp / 550 Nm, sent rear-wheel through either the 7-speed M-DCT or a 6-speed manual (RWD only, no xDrive option in the F-platform). The F80 is the analogue 3-Series M, pure mechanical chassis, no electric assistance, no torque vectoring beyond the limited-slip diff, and its S55 underneath responds exceptionally well to a remap.
BMW M3 (F80) tuning
Among the S55 cars, the F80 stands alone as the four-door. BMW never offered this generation of M3 as anything but a saloon, which makes it the one you can genuinely use every day. Built from 2014 to 2018 with rear-wheel drive and a choice of 7-speed DCT or 6-speed manual, it is also the analogue one: no electronic theatre, just a mechanical chassis that shows you exactly what a better calibration is doing.
Factory output is 425 bhp and 550 Nm, and the engine is barely trying at that level. Samuel's Stage 1 calibration lifts the F80 to 520 bhp and 700 Nm with nothing bolted on, a £500 file flashed through the OBD port. Move to Stage 2 with downpipes, midpipe and intakes and the target becomes 560 bhp and 750 Nm, with a flex-fuel option opening up to 600 bhp on E40 blends.
Past that, the saloon will take whatever you feed it: hybrid turbos push beyond 600 bhp, and a full-frame kit with port injection or an HPFP lift stretches the S55 towards its 1,200 bhp ceiling. The whole process happens remotely. Send Samuel your build details, receive a hand-built file for BM3, MHD or MG Flasher within 24 hours, flash it yourself, and keep the stock calibration on hand to return the car to factory whenever you like.

BMW M3 F80 tuning, stages, hardware and what to expect from the S55
The F80 M3 (2014-2018) is the first turbocharged M3, the analogue 3-Series M body with the S55 twin-scroll twin-turbo straight-six underneath, shared with the F82 / F83 M4 and F87 M2 Competition. From the factory, BMW set the F80 M3 at 425 bhp / 550 Nm; the hardware ceiling sits considerably higher. BMW M3 F80 tuning with Samuel applies a calibration matched to the F80 saloon's chassis behaviour and either the 7-speed M-DCT or 6-speed manual. The F80 M3 was deliberately under-calibrated at launch, and remains one of the most rewarding S55 chassis to remap because of it.
Stage 1
520 bhp · 700 Nm
No hardware required. The MEVD17 DME is flashed via the OBD port, boost, ignition timing, fuel delivery and torque limiters all revised. BMW M3 F80 Stage 1 unlocks 520 bhp and 700 Nm from the OEM hardware (up from 425 / 550 stock). The BMW M3 F80 chip tuning starting point and by far the most popular single modification on the platform, the most cost-effective change you can make.
Every M3 F80 tune Samuel produces is calibrated individually for the specific car, fuel grade and installed hardware, not a base map loaded and left. BMW M3 F80 tuning done correctly accounts for the chassis behaviour, the M-DCT or manual gearbox calibration, the S55's rod-bearing condition and UK fuel quality; the map is reviewed against your data logs after the first flash and revised before sign-off.
Compatibility
Platform and hardware compatibility

Bootmod3 (BM3)
Full S55 support across every chassis in the F-series M family (F80 M3, F82 / F83 M4, F87 M2 Competition, F82 M4 CS / GTS, F80 M3 CS). MEVD17 DME OBD flashing, realtime monitoring via the BM3 app. The most widely used platform for S55 tuning.

MHD
Full S55 support, historically the dominant platform on the F-series M cars before BM3 caught up. Suitable for Stage 1, Stage 2 and Stage 2 Flex Fuel. Excellent data-logging toolset.

MG Flasher
Full S55 support. Clean interface and reliable flash process on the MEVD17 DME. A common alternative to BM3 / MHD for owners who prefer the MG ecosystem.

xHP Flashtool
Compatible with the 7-speed M-DCT (Getrag GS7D36BG) fitted to F-series M cars in automatic spec. Gearbox calibration matched to the ECU map, strongly recommended at Stage 2 and above where torque jumps significantly. Available as an add-on. Manual-gearbox cars do not need xHP.

ECU: MEVD17 DME across every S55 chassis. Accessible via OBD port, no bench flash required for Stage 1, Stage 2 or Stage 2 Flex Fuel.

FAQ
M3 (F80) tuning — frequently asked questions
Everything below the redline. Output climbs from 425 bhp and 550 Nm to 520 bhp and 700 Nm on standard hardware, but the bigger difference day to day is the mid-range: torque arrives earlier and holds longer, and throttle response tightens up. It is a pure software change, flashed through the OBD port on BM3, MHD or MG Flasher.
The engine calibration is the same, but Samuel manages torque delivery with the manual in mind, because the factory clutch is the weakest link once you are at Stage 2 torque. A healthy clutch copes at Stage 1; for higher stages Samuel will advise whether a clutch upgrade or a torque cap in lower gears suits your build better.
It is the most discussed topic in S55 ownership, so it deserves a straight answer. Failures are real but rarer than forum threads suggest, and they correlate with aggressive torque spikes more than with tuning itself. Samuel calibrates torque delivery within sensible limits for your hardware, and if you are planning sustained high-torque use he will tell you when a pinned or keyed hub makes sense.
Three things: downpipes, a midpipe and upgraded intakes. With those in place the stock turbos support 560 bhp and 750 Nm on the F80, and adding the flex-fuel option lifts the ceiling to 600 bhp on E40 ethanol blends. Turbos, intercooler and the rest of the fuel system stay standard at this level.
You tell Samuel your car, fuel grade and fitted hardware, and he builds the calibration by hand rather than pulling a generic file off a shelf. It lands in your BM3, MHD or MG Flasher account within 24 hours, you flash it through the OBD port in around 15 minutes, and the original file stays with you for a full return to stock.
