About this tune
The F97 X3 M (2019-present) is the M-division performance SUV with the S58, same engine as the M3, M4 and G87 M2, in a taller, heavier xDrive body. Stock is 503 bhp / 600 Nm on the Competition (which is the only spec sold in most markets). xDrive standard; no RWD option. The X3 M is the family-sized M car, full-fat S58 hardware with five usable seats and a boot, and it tunes exactly the same as the M3 / M4 from an ECU standpoint.
BMW X3 M tuning
The S58 twin-scroll twin-turbo straight-six in the F97 X3 M is the same engine fitted to the G87 M2, G80 M3 and G82 M4 — same MG1 DME, same hardware ceiling. Competition spec is the only variant available in most markets: 503 bhp / 600 Nm from the factory, xDrive standard, no RWD option. Samuel calibrates the F97 X3 M Competition to the same standard as the rest of the S58 family: 650 bhp / 800 Nm at Stage 1 from OEM hardware, 720 bhp / 900 Nm at Stage 2 with downpipes, midpipe and intakes. The X3 M's heavier chassis and xDrive torque split mean the power is delivered differently than in the lighter G80/G82, and Samuel's calibration accounts for that on every file. Note: F97 X3 M cars require a one-time ECU unlock before any map can be flashed.

The tuning aftermarket for the F97 X3 M shares its core hardware and map family directly with the G80 M3 and G82 M4 — same S58, same MG1 DME. The difference in delivery is chassis and drivetrain, not engine headroom. xHP gearbox calibration is available as an add-on and is strongly recommended at Stage 2 and above.

What the X3 M map revision covers: S58 stages explained
The F97 X3 M is BMW's heaviest S58 chassis — heavier than the G80 M3, heavier than the G82 M4, xDrive only. Samuel's calibration accounts for the chassis weight and xDrive torque-split logic on every file. Stage 1 targets 650 bhp / 800 Nm from OEM hardware — 147 bhp / 200 Nm gained with no mechanical changes beyond the ECU unlock. Stage 2 adds downpipes, midpipe and intakes for 720 bhp / 900 Nm. Add Flex Fuel at Stage 2 for up to 800 bhp on E50 blends. Stage 3 is bespoke around the hybrid or big-turbo spec submitted. Every map is log-reviewed after the first flash before sign-off.

No hardware required. The MG1 DME is flashed via the OBD port. BMW X3 M Stage 1 unlocks 650 bhp and 800 Nm from the OEM hardware (up from 503 / 600 stock on the Competition). The BMW X3 M chip tuning starting point, the most cost-effective change you can make to BMW's flagship performance SUV, and the difference is immediately obvious given the X3 M's weight.

Yes — F97 X3 M cars ship with a locked MG1 DME from the factory. The ECU must be unlocked once before any map can be written; after that the car flashes normally over OBD. The unlock is a one-time step and does not affect the tune's reversibility.
The S58 in the F97 X3 M reaches around 1500 bhp on the right hardware spec — the same ceiling as every other S58 chassis, because the engine hardware is identical. Stage 1 and Stage 2 run the stock turbos; beyond that is bespoke per car.
