About this tune
The G87 M2 (2023-present) is the new-generation M2, the first M2 with the S58 engine, replacing the S55 of the M2 Competition / M2 CS. Stock is 460 bhp / 550 Nm, sent rear-wheel through either the ZF 8HP automatic or a 6-speed manual. RWD only; no xDrive option on the G87. The smallest body BMW M fits the S58 into, and one of the most-tuned M chassis in the UK because the underlying twin-scroll twin-turbo straight-six responds exceptionally well to a remap.
BMW M2 tuning
The BMW M2 (G87, 2023–present) runs the S58 and leaves the factory at 460 bhp · 550 Nm, Rear-wheel drive, 8-speed M Steptronic or 6-speed manual. Samuel tunes the G87 Coupe to the same standard — every map hand-calibrated for the specific car, its fuel grade and its installed hardware, not a base file loaded and left. M2 Stage 1 alone takes it from 460 bhp · 550 Nm to 650 bhp · 800 Nm on the standard turbo, flashed over OBD on BM3, MHD or MG Flasher.
Add the Stage 2 hardware and the M2 targets 720 bhp · 900 Nm; from there the S58 stretches to around 1500 bhp on a hybrid or big-turbo build with supporting fuelling. Whichever stage suits the M2, the file is delivered within 24 hours and is fully reversible to the supplied stock calibration.

BMW M2 tuning, stages, hardware and what to expect from the G87 S58
The G87 M2 (2023-present) is the smallest chassis in BMW M's S58 lineup, the same 3.0-litre twin-scroll twin-turbo straight-six fitted to the G80 M3, G82 M4 and F97 / F98 X3 M / X4 M, dropped into the tightest possible body. From the factory, BMW set the G87 M2 at 460 bhp / 550 Nm; the hardware ceiling sits considerably higher. BMW M2 tuning with Samuel targets that headroom with a calibration matched to the G87's RWD-only chassis and 8HP gearbox. BMW M2 G87 tuning unlocks substantially more output than the M2 Competition F87 LCI ever could, because the underlying S58 hardware is fundamentally more capable than the S55 it replaced.
Stage 1
650 bhp · 800 Nm
No hardware required. The MG1 DME is flashed via the OBD port, boost, ignition timing, fuel delivery and torque limiters all revised. BMW M2 Stage 1 unlocks 650 bhp and 800 Nm from the OEM hardware (up from 460 / 550 stock on the M2, a much larger jump than the equivalent Stage 1 on the M3 / M4 Competition simply because BMW shipped the M2 with a more conservative software limiter). The BMW M2 G87 chip tuning starting point and by far the most popular single modification on the platform.
Every M2 tune Samuel produces is calibrated individually for the specific car, fuel grade and installed hardware, not a base map loaded and left. BMW M2 tuning done correctly accounts for the G87's compact chassis behaviour, the 8HP gearbox calibration and UK fuel quality; the map is reviewed against your data logs after the first flash and revised before sign-off.
Compatibility
Platform and hardware compatibility

Bootmod3 (BM3)
Full S58 support across every chassis in the family (G87 M2, G80 M3, G82 M4, F97 X3 M, F98 X4 M). MG1 DME OBD flashing, realtime monitoring via the BM3 app. The most widely used platform for S58 tuning.

FAQ
M2 tuning — frequently asked questions
M2 Stage 1 lifts the S58 from a stock 460 bhp · 550 Nm to 650 bhp · 800 Nm, with no hardware required. The map is flashed through the OBD port on BM3, MHD or MG Flasher and is the starting point for almost every M2 owner — broader torque and sharper throttle response from the factory hardware.
This page covers the G87 Coupe (G87). They share the S58 engine and run the same core calibration, but every M2 tune Samuel delivers is tailored to your exact car, fuel grade and installed hardware — never a base map loaded and left.
Stage 2 on the M2 targets 720 bhp · 900 Nm and needs downpipes + midpipe + intakes. Everything else — turbo, fuel system, intercooler — holds within the Stage 2 figures on the S58.
On the right hardware spec the S58 in the M2 reaches around 1500 bhp. Stage 1 and Stage 2 run the standard turbo; beyond that needs a hybrid or full big-turbo conversion with supporting fuelling, and the calibration is built bespoke per car.
Yes — later M2 (G87) cars ship with a locked DME that must be unlocked once before any map can be written. It's a one-time step; after that the M2 flashes normally over OBD and the tune is fully reversible to the supplied stock file.
Remotely. Once Samuel has your build details, the calibrated M2 map is delivered to your flashing tool account (BM3, MHD or MG Flasher) within 24 hours and you flash it yourself over OBD in about 15 minutes. It's fully reversible — the original S58 stock file is supplied before you flash, so the car can return to factory at any time.
A factory warranty can be voided if BMW shows a tune caused a specific failure, so it's a personal call. Samuel's M2 maps are calibrated to stay within the mechanical limits of the S58 hardware, and because the tune is reversible to stock before any dealer visit, many owners run a tuned M2 without issue.
