About this tune
The G87 M2 (2023-present) is the new-generation M2, the first M2 with the S58 engine, replacing the S55 of the M2 Competition / M2 CS. Stock is 460 bhp / 550 Nm, sent rear-wheel through either the ZF 8HP automatic or a 6-speed manual. RWD only; no xDrive option on the G87. The smallest body BMW M fits the S58 into, and one of the most-tuned M chassis in the UK because the underlying twin-scroll twin-turbo straight-six responds exceptionally well to a remap.
BMW M2 tuning
BMW sells the G87 M2 as the entry point to the S58, but the engine underneath is the same twin-turbo straight-six fitted to the M3 and M4, wound back to 460 bhp in the smallest, shortest-wheelbase body it will ever sit in. That software gap is exactly why G87 owners come to Samuel: the car leaves the factory with the most headroom of any S58 M car, and it is the only one still offered purely rear-wheel drive.
Samuel's Stage 1 calibration takes the M2 from its stock 460 bhp and 550 Nm to 650 bhp and 800 Nm with no hardware changes at all, a bigger percentage jump than any other S58 car sees. Fit downpipes, a midpipe and intakes and Stage 2 pushes on to 720 bhp and 900 Nm, with a Flex Fuel option that unlocks up to 800 bhp on E50 blends. Every map is built by hand around your exact car and fuel.
The G87 ships with a locked DME, so a one-time unlock is carried out before the first flash; from then on the car writes maps normally over OBD. Beyond Stage 2 the platform runs to around 1500 bhp on hybrid or full big-turbo hardware. Files are calibrated remotely, delivered to your BM3, MHD or MG Flasher account within 24 hours, and the supplied stock file means the M2 can go back to factory whenever you choose.

BMW M2 tuning, stages, hardware and what to expect from the G87 S58
The G87 M2 (2023-present) is the smallest chassis in BMW M's S58 lineup, the same 3.0-litre twin-scroll twin-turbo straight-six fitted to the G80 M3, G82 M4 and F97 / F98 X3 M / X4 M, dropped into the tightest possible body. From the factory, BMW set the G87 M2 at 460 bhp / 550 Nm; the hardware ceiling sits considerably higher. BMW M2 tuning with Samuel targets that headroom with a calibration matched to the G87's RWD-only chassis and 8HP gearbox. BMW M2 G87 tuning unlocks substantially more output than the M2 Competition F87 LCI ever could, because the underlying S58 hardware is fundamentally more capable than the S55 it replaced.
Stage 1
650 bhp · 800 Nm
No hardware required. The MG1 DME is flashed via the OBD port, boost, ignition timing, fuel delivery and torque limiters all revised. BMW M2 Stage 1 unlocks 650 bhp and 800 Nm from the OEM hardware (up from 460 / 550 stock on the M2, a much larger jump than the equivalent Stage 1 on the M3 / M4 Competition simply because BMW shipped the M2 with a more conservative software limiter). The BMW M2 G87 chip tuning starting point and by far the most popular single modification on the platform.
Every M2 tune Samuel produces is calibrated individually for the specific car, fuel grade and installed hardware, not a base map loaded and left. BMW M2 tuning done correctly accounts for the G87's compact chassis behaviour, the 8HP gearbox calibration and UK fuel quality; the map is reviewed against your data logs after the first flash and revised before sign-off.
Compatibility
Platform and hardware compatibility

Bootmod3 (BM3)
Full S58 support across every chassis in the family (G87 M2, G80 M3, G82 M4, F97 X3 M, F98 X4 M). MG1 DME OBD flashing, realtime monitoring via the BM3 app. The most widely used platform for S58 tuning.

FAQ
M2 tuning — frequently asked questions
Stage 1 lifts the M2 from 460 bhp and 550 Nm to 650 bhp and 800 Nm using nothing but software, the biggest single-flash transformation in the S58 range because the G87 starts from the lowest factory figure. Mid-range torque arrives much earlier and the top-end stops tapering, all on completely standard hardware.
Yes. The engine calibration lives in the DME and applies to both gearboxes; the 8-speed M Steptronic and the 6-speed manual each get a map built around how they deliver torque. Manual cars are calibrated with clutch holding capacity in mind, so torque is shaped through the gears rather than simply maxed everywhere in the rev range.
The G87 is the only S58 car without an xDrive option, so traction is the honest limit in the lower gears. Samuel shapes the torque ramp so boost builds progressively rather than arriving in one hit, which keeps the car usable in the wet and lets the chassis put power down cleanly once rolling.
Every G87 leaves the factory with a locked MG1 DME that refuses third-party map writes. A one-time unlock opens it up; once done it never needs repeating, and BM3, MHD or MG Flasher can then read and flash the car over the OBD port like any earlier M model.
You send Samuel your build details, fuel grade, hardware and how the car is used, and a hand-calibrated file lands in your flashing platform account within 24 hours. You flash it yourself through the OBD port in around fifteen minutes, and the stock calibration is supplied alongside so the M2 can be returned to factory at any point.
