The G30 Saloon and G31 Touring 530i (2017–2023) is the 5 Series version of the B48 2.0-litre turbocharged inline-four, rear-wheel drive through the ZF 8HP automatic. Stock output is 248 bhp / 350 Nm — a more conservative calibration than the 330i and 430i despite shared hardware. The G30 is heavier than the 3 Series, which makes the low-end torque gain from Stage 1 more useful in day-to-day driving. Both Saloon and Touring body styles share the same core calibration. Stage 1 targets 310 bhp / 520 Nm; Stage 2 with downpipe and intake reaches 340 bhp / 550 Nm; Stage 3 bespoke builds scale to around 500 bhp on a hybrid or big-turbo spec.
The G30 530i is the executive 5 Series form of the B48 — the same engine as the 330i and 430i, in a heavier, longer body. Samuel tunes both G30 Saloon and G31 Touring to the same spec: Stage 1 at 310 bhp · 520 Nm over OBD on BM3, MHD or MG Flasher, every file hand-calibrated for the specific car, its fuel grade and installed hardware. Stage 2 targets 340 bhp · 550 Nm with a downpipe and intake; Stage 3 is bespoke, built around the turbo and hardware spec you submit. The map is delivered within 24 hours and is fully reversible to the supplied stock calibration.

530i B48 tuning on the G30 / G31: the engine in the executive body
The B48 in the 530i is the same 2.0-litre single-turbo four fitted to the 330i, 430i and Z4 sDrive20i — same block, same MG1CS003 DME, same stage targets. The difference in Samuel's calibration for the G30 / G31 is the chassis variables: the executive kerb weight and the ZF 8HP gearbox tuning that becomes relevant as torque increases at Stage 2. Stage 1 delivers 310 bhp · 520 Nm from the OEM hardware; Stage 2 adds downpipe and intake for 340 bhp · 550 Nm; every map is log-reviewed after the first flash before sign-off.

No hardware required. The MG1CS003 DME is flashed via the OBD port, boost pressure, ignition timing, fuel delivery and torque limiters all revised. BMW 530i Stage 1 unlocks 310 bhp / 520 Nm from the OEM hardware (up from 248 / 350 stock), with a substantially broader torque curve through the 5 Series mid-range.

A factory warranty can be voided if BMW attributes a specific failure to the tune — that's a personal decision. Samuel's 530i maps stay within the mechanical limits of the B48 hardware and are reversible to stock before any dealer visit. Many owners run tuned 530i cars without issue.
BM3 is the most established for B48 tuning and the best pick if you want realtime monitoring through the app. MHD supports Stage 1 and Stage 2 on the 530i with a strong data-logging toolset. MG Flasher is a clean alternative for owners already in that ecosystem. The map Samuel builds is the same across all three; the choice is your flashing tool.
The G30 / G31 530i runs the ZF 8HP automatic; xHP calibration matches the shift logic and torque limits to the ECU map. Worth adding at Stage 2 where the B48 torque increase is significant for a 2.0-litre four. At Stage 1 it is optional. Available as an add-on.
Yes — once you've driven the 530i on the new map, send your data logs back through BM3, MHD or MG Flasher and Samuel reviews them before sign-off. If the calibration needs revision for your fuel grade or hardware, the file is updated. That review step is what separates this from a generic map.
