About this tune
The G30 530e (2017-present) is BMW's executive plug-in hybrid 5 Series, the same B48 turbocharged 2.0-litre four found in the 530i, paired with an 80-kW electric motor on the input shaft of the 8HP gearbox. Combined system output is 288 bhp and 420 Nm, with EV-only running for short urban trips and the petrol unit doing the work everywhere else. Available as the G30 saloon and G31 Touring, the 530e is the most common BMW plug-in in the executive segment in the UK, the underlying B48 responds to a remap exactly the same way the regular 530i does, and the electric motor's torque is unaffected by ECU work, so the combined figures move up cleanly. If you have been weighing up a 530e tuning box or chip tuning, a proper ECU remap on BM3, MHD or MG Flasher delivers cleaner, safer and fully reversible gains than any piggyback box, and it is the basis for every package on this page.
BMW 530e tuning
The BMW 530e (G30 / G31, 2017–2023) runs the B48 2.0L turbocharged inline-four + electric motor and leaves the factory at 288 bhp · 420 Nm (combined), RWD or xDrive plug-in hybrid, 8-speed ZF automatic. Samuel tunes the G30 Saloon (PHEV) and G31 Touring (PHEV) to the same standard — every map hand-calibrated for the specific car, its fuel grade and its installed hardware, not a base file loaded and left. 530e Stage 1 alone takes it from 288 bhp · 420 Nm (combined) to 400 bhp · 600 Nm on the standard turbo, flashed over OBD on BM3, MHD or MG Flasher.
Add the Stage 2 hardware and the 530e targets 450 bhp · 720 Nm; from there the B48 stretches to around 600 bhp on a hybrid or big-turbo build with supporting fuelling. Whichever stage suits the 530e, the file is delivered within 24 hours and is fully reversible to the supplied stock calibration.

BMW 530e tuning, stages, hardware and what to expect from the PHEV B48
The 530e is the plug-in hybrid version of BMW's G30 5 Series, sharing the B48 turbocharged 2.0-litre four with the standard 530i and pairing it with an 80-kW electric motor mounted on the input shaft of the ZF 8HP gearbox. Tuning a BMW 530e works on the petrol side of the drivetrain, the same OBD-port flash that any other B48 in the G3x chassis receives, applied to the MG1 DME, with the electric motor contribution remaining factory and stacking on top of the recalibrated petrol output. From the factory, the B48 in the 530e is detuned to prioritise efficiency and protect the hybrid system's torque budget; a BMW 530e remap with Samuel unlocks the headroom BMW left on the table without changing how the hybrid system behaves.
Stage 1
400 bhp · 600 Nm (combined)
No hardware required. The ECU map is revised via the OBD port on the MG1 DME, boost pressure, ignition timing, fuel delivery and torque limiters all adjusted. Combined system output moves from 288 bhp / 420 Nm to around 400 bhp / 600 Nm, with the petrol side doing the heavy lifting and the electric motor stacking on top exactly as it does from the factory. This is the BMW 530e chip tuning starting point, the most cost-effective single change available on the platform, and the most popular choice for both G30 saloon and G31 Touring owners.
Every tune Samuel produces is calibrated individually for the specific car, fuel grade and installed hardware, not a base map loaded and left. Tuning a BMW 530e correctly means accounting for the PHEV-specific torque-management system as well as the standard B48 variables; the calibration is reviewed against your data logs after the first flash and revised before sign-off.
Compatibility
Platform and hardware compatibility

Bootmod3 (BM3)
Full B48 PHEV support on the G30 and G31 530e. OBD-port flashing via the MG1 DME, the same proven path used on every B48 in the G3x lineup. The most widely used platform for BMW 530e tuning.

MHD
B48 PHEV support depends on software version; suitable for Stage 1 and Stage 2 on supported builds. Strong data-logging toolset and active community support. Confirm coverage with Samuel before purchase.

MG Flasher
Full B48 support on the G30 / G31 platform. Clean interface and reliable flash process on the MG1 DME. A solid alternative to BM3 for 530e owners.

xHP Flashtool
Compatible with the 8HP gearbox in the 530e. Gearbox calibration matched to the ECU map, strongly recommended once petrol-side output moves up at Stage 2 or beyond, especially given the 5 Series kerb weight. Available as an add-on.

FAQ
530e tuning — frequently asked questions
530e Stage 1 lifts the B48 from a stock 288 bhp · 420 Nm (combined) to 400 bhp · 600 Nm, with no hardware required. The map is flashed through the OBD port on BM3, MHD or MG Flasher and is the starting point for almost every 530e owner — broader torque and sharper throttle response from the factory hardware.
This page covers the G30 Saloon (PHEV) and G31 Touring (PHEV) (G30 / G31). They share the B48 2.0L turbocharged inline-four + electric motor and run the same core calibration, but every 530e tune Samuel delivers is tailored to your exact car, fuel grade and installed hardware — never a base map loaded and left.
Stage 2 on the 530e targets 450 bhp · 720 Nm and needs downpipe + intake. Everything else — turbo, fuel system, intercooler — holds within the Stage 2 figures on the B48.
On the right hardware spec the B48 in the 530e reaches around 600 bhp. Stage 1 and Stage 2 run the standard turbo; beyond that needs a hybrid or full big-turbo conversion with supporting fuelling, and the calibration is built bespoke per car.
Remotely. Once Samuel has your build details, the calibrated 530e map is delivered to your flashing tool account (BM3, MHD or MG Flasher) within 24 hours and you flash it yourself over OBD in about 15 minutes. It's fully reversible — the original B48 stock file is supplied before you flash, so the car can return to factory at any time.
A factory warranty can be voided if BMW shows a tune caused a specific failure, so it's a personal call. Samuel's 530e maps are calibrated to stay within the mechanical limits of the B48 hardware, and because the tune is reversible to stock before any dealer visit, many owners run a tuned 530e without issue.
