About this tune
The F25 X3 xDrive35i (2011-2017) is the N55 in BMW's mid-size SUV body, same engine, turbo and ECU as the 335i, in a taller xDrive body. Stock is 302 bhp / 400 Nm, sent through the ZF 8HP. The X3 35i is the inline-six surprise of the F25 lineup; tunes to the same N55 hardware ceiling as every other chassis in the family.

Family SUVs do not usually share their engine with an M2, but the F25 X3 xDrive35i does. Produced from 2011 to 2017, it pairs the N55 straight-six with all-wheel drive and a properly usable boot, making it the pick for owners who need one car to do everything. Tuning it is about removing the compromise: keep the practicality, lose the polite factory calibration.
In standard form the X3 35i produces 302 bhp and 400 Nm through the ZF eight-speed and xDrive. Stage 1 from Samuel lifts it to 380 bhp and 500 Nm on unmodified hardware, and the all-wheel-drive traction puts that torque to the road cleanly in all weather. With a downpipe, intake or panel filter and intercooler fitted, Stage 2 raises the SUV to 420 bhp and 550 Nm.
The engine's 800 bhp ceiling applies here just as it does in the saloons — hybrid and big-turbo conversions are calibrated case by case around the declared parts list. The F25 X3 xDrive35i (2011-2017) is the N55 in BMW's mid-size SUV body, same engine, turbo and ECU as the 335i and M135i, in a taller body with xDrive. From the factory, BMW set the X3 35i at 302 bhp / 400 Nm; the hardware ceiling sits considerably higher. BMW X3 35i tuning with Samuel applies the same N55 Stage 1 / Stage 2 / Stage 2+ map family. BMW X3 xDrive35i tuning and BMW X3 35i F25 tuning are the same map, the SUV body simply uses the additional torque differently than the lighter chassis.

No hardware required. The MEVD17 DME is flashed via the OBD port. BMW X3 35i Stage 1 unlocks 380 bhp and 500 Nm from the OEM hardware (up from 302 / 400 stock). The BMW X3 35i chip tuning starting point, and the difference is immediately obvious given the SUV's mass.

X3 35i tuning — frequently asked questions
The calibration targets are the same as the rear-driven N55 cars — the all-wheel-drive system simply deploys them better. 500 Nm at Stage 1 arriving through four driven wheels means the F25 puts its new performance down in conditions that would light up a 335i's rear tyres. Samuel accounts for the xDrive drivetrain when the file is prepared.
380 bhp and 500 Nm, from a factory baseline of 302 bhp and 400 Nm. No parts are required, the cost is £400, and the flash happens through the OBD port using bootmod3, MHD or MG Flasher. For a practical family SUV, the transformation in everyday urgency is substantial.
The same trio as the rest of the N55 family: downpipe, intake or upgraded panel filter, and intercooler. With those in place the Stage 2 file runs the standard turbo to 420 bhp and 550 Nm. Adding the B58 TU fuel pump later unlocks Stage 2+ at 440 bhp and 600 Nm.
Condition decides it, not the odometer. An F25 with solid service history, healthy ignition components and a clean fault-code scan is a perfectly good Stage 1 candidate, because the torque target sits well inside the engine's designed capability. If anything is marginal, sort it first — a tune rewards a healthy engine and exposes a tired one.
