About this tune
The E90 / E92 / E93 335i (LCI N55 production, 2010-2013) is the analogue 3 Series with the N55 underneath, replacing the older N54 twin-turbo from the pre-LCI cars. Stock is 302 bhp / 400 Nm, sent through the ZF 6HP automatic or a 6-speed manual. Available as the E90 saloon, E92 coupe and E93 convertible. The last 3 Series before the F30 generation, and a hugely popular tuning platform precisely because of its analogue feel and N55 hardware ceiling.
BMW 335i (E90) tuning
The BMW 335i (E90) (E90 / E92 / E93, 2005–2011) runs the N55 and leaves the factory at 302 bhp · 400 Nm, Rear-wheel drive. Samuel tunes the E90 Saloon, E92 Coupe and E93 Convertible to the same standard — every map hand-calibrated for the specific car, its fuel grade and its installed hardware, not a base file loaded and left. 335i (E90) Stage 1 alone takes it from 302 bhp · 400 Nm to 380 bhp · 500 Nm on the standard turbo, flashed over OBD on BM3, MHD or MG Flasher.
Add the Stage 2 hardware and the 335i (E90) targets 420 bhp · 550 Nm; from there the N55 stretches to around 800 bhp on a hybrid or big-turbo build with supporting fuelling. Whichever stage suits the 335i (E90), the file is delivered within 24 hours and is fully reversible to the supplied stock calibration.

BMW 335i E90 / E92 tuning, stages, hardware and what to expect from the N55
The E90 / E92 / E93 335i ran with two different engines depending on production year, the N54 twin-turbo (2006-2010) and the N55 single-turbo (2010-2013 LCI). This page covers the N55 LCI cars specifically. From the factory, BMW set the E9x 335i N55 at 302 bhp / 400 Nm; the hardware ceiling sits considerably higher and is shared across every N55 chassis. BMW 335i E90 tuning with Samuel (and BMW 335i E92 tuning for the coupe / BMW 335i E93 tuning for the convertible) applies the same Stage 1 / Stage 2 / Stage 2+ map family used on the F30 335i, 435i and 535i.
Stage 1
380 bhp · 500 Nm
No hardware required. The MEVD17 DME is flashed via the OBD port. BMW 335i E90 / E92 N55 Stage 1 unlocks 380 bhp and 500 Nm from the OEM hardware (up from 302 / 400 stock). The BMW 335i E92 chip tuning starting point for almost every LCI N55 owner.
Every E9x 335i N55 tune Samuel produces is calibrated individually for the specific car, fuel grade and installed hardware, not a base map loaded and left. BMW 335i E92 tuning done correctly accounts for the E9x chassis behaviour, the ZF 6HP automatic or 6-speed manual gearbox calibration, and UK fuel quality; the map is reviewed against your data logs after the first flash and revised before sign-off.

FAQ
335i (E90) tuning — frequently asked questions
335i (E90) Stage 1 lifts the N55 from a stock 302 bhp · 400 Nm to 380 bhp · 500 Nm, with no hardware required. The map is flashed through the OBD port on BM3, MHD or MG Flasher and is the starting point for almost every 335i (E90) owner — broader torque and sharper throttle response from the factory hardware.
This page covers the E90 Saloon, E92 Coupe and E93 Convertible (E90 / E92 / E93). They share the N55 engine and run the same core calibration, but every 335i (E90) tune Samuel delivers is tailored to your exact car, fuel grade and installed hardware — never a base map loaded and left.
Stage 2 on the 335i (E90) targets 420 bhp · 550 Nm and needs downpipe + intake or panel filter + intercooler. Everything else — turbo, fuel system, intercooler — holds within the Stage 2 figures on the N55.
On the right hardware spec the N55 in the 335i (E90) reaches around 800 bhp. Stage 1 and Stage 2 run the standard turbo; beyond that needs a hybrid or full big-turbo conversion with supporting fuelling, and the calibration is built bespoke per car.
Remotely. Once Samuel has your build details, the calibrated 335i (E90) map is delivered to your flashing tool account (BM3, MHD or MG Flasher) within 24 hours and you flash it yourself over OBD in about 15 minutes. It's fully reversible — the original N55 stock file is supplied before you flash, so the car can return to factory at any time.
A factory warranty can be voided if BMW shows a tune caused a specific failure, so it's a personal call. Samuel's 335i (E90) maps are calibrated to stay within the mechanical limits of the N55 hardware, and because the tune is reversible to stock before any dealer visit, many owners run a tuned 335i (E90) without issue.
