About this tune
The F32 / F33 / F36 440i (2015-2020) is the coupe, convertible and Gran Coupe variant of the B58 Gen 1, same engine block, turbo and 8HP gearbox as the M140i, M240i and 340i, with a conservative factory calibration of 326 bhp / 450 Nm. The detune is purely software, which is why Stage 1 on the 440i targets the same 420 bhp / 600 Nm figure as the rest of the family. Available as the F32 coupe, F33 convertible and F36 Gran Coupe.

The F32 / F33 / F36 440i (2015–2020) brings the B58 Gen 1 into the 4 Series body range — coupe, convertible and Gran Coupe, all on the same rear-drive platform with the ZF 8HP gearbox. Factory output is 326 bhp / 450 Nm, a more conservative calibration than the 340i and M-Performance cars despite shared hardware. The 440i detune is entirely software — same block, same turbo, same fuel system. Available as F32 Coupe, F33 Convertible and F36 Gran Coupe; all three run an identical core calibration. Stage 1 reaches 420 bhp / 600 Nm on the stock turbo; Stage 2+ with the TU fuel pump takes it to 480 bhp / 680 Nm; Stage 3 scales bespoke on a hybrid or big-turbo build to around 1000 bhp.
The F32 / F33 / F36 440i is the B58 Gen 1 4 Series — the same engine as the 340i and M140i, at a more conservative factory output. Samuel tunes all three body variants to the same spec: 420 bhp · 600 Nm at Stage 1 over OBD on BM3, MHD or MG Flasher, every file calibrated individually for the specific car, fuel grade and hardware. Stage 2 targets 450 bhp · 650 Nm with a downpipe (OPF delete if 2018+) and intake; Stage 2+ adds the B58 TU fuel pump for 480 bhp · 680 Nm. The map is delivered within 24 hours and is fully reversible to the supplied stock calibration.

The B58 Gen 1 in the 440i is the same unit as the 340i, M140i and M240i — the difference between factory outputs is software only. Samuel's F32 / F33 / F36 calibration accounts for the 4 Series body weights, the ZF 8HP gearbox, and whether the 2018+ car has an OPF filter that needs addressing at Stage 2. Stage 1 delivers 420 bhp · 600 Nm from the OEM hardware; Stage 2 adds a downpipe and intake for 450 bhp · 650 Nm; Stage 2+ reaches 480 bhp · 680 Nm with the TU fuel pump. No hardware required. The MG1CS003 / MEVD17 DME is flashed via the OBD port, boost, ignition timing, fuel delivery and torque limiters all revised. BMW 440i Stage 1 unlocks 420 bhp / 600 Nm from the OEM hardware (up from 326 / 450 stock). One of the largest stock-hardware Stage 1 gains in the BMW range, the BMW 440i chip tuning starting point for almost every owner who modifies the car.

A factory warranty can be voided if BMW attributes a specific failure to the tune — that's a personal decision. Samuel's 440i maps are calibrated to stay within the mechanical limits of the B58 Gen 1 hardware and are reversible to stock before any dealer visit. Many owners run tuned 440i cars without issue.
BM3 is the most established for B58 Gen 1 tuning and the best pick if you want realtime monitoring through the app. MHD covers Stage 1 through Stage 2+ with a solid data-logging toolset. MG Flasher is a clean alternative for owners already in that ecosystem. The map Samuel builds is the same across all three; the choice is your flashing tool.
The F32 / F33 / F36 440i runs the ZF 8HP automatic; xHP calibration matches the shift logic and torque limits to the ECU map — strongly recommended at Stage 2 and above where the B58 Gen 1 torque increase is significant. At Stage 1 it is optional. Available as an add-on.
