About this tune
The F30 / F31 340i (2015-2019) is the executive saloon and Touring variant of the B58 Gen 1, same engine block, turbo and 8HP gearbox as the M140i and M240i, with a more conservative factory calibration (326 bhp / 450 Nm vs 335 / 500 on the M-Performance cars). The detune is purely software, which is why Stage 1 on the 340i targets the same 420 bhp / 600 Nm figure as the rest of the B58 Gen 1 family. Available as the F30 saloon and F31 Touring.
BMW 340i tuning
The BMW 340i (F30 / F31, 2012–2019) runs the B58 Gen 1 and leaves the factory at 326 bhp · 450 Nm, Rear-wheel drive, 8-speed ZF automatic. Samuel tunes the F30 Saloon and F31 Touring to the same standard — every map hand-calibrated for the specific car, its fuel grade and its installed hardware, not a base file loaded and left. 340i Stage 1 alone takes it from 326 bhp · 450 Nm to 420 bhp · 600 Nm on the standard turbo, flashed over OBD on BM3, MHD or MG Flasher.
Add the Stage 2 hardware and the 340i targets 450 bhp · 650 Nm; from there the B58 Gen 1 stretches to around 1000 bhp on a hybrid or big-turbo build with supporting fuelling. Whichever stage suits the 340i, the file is delivered within 24 hours and is fully reversible to the supplied stock calibration.

Engine guide
BMW 340i tuning, stages, hardware and what to expect from the F30 B58 Gen 1
The 340i runs the B58 Gen 1 in F30 saloon and F31 Touring form, the same engine block and turbo as the M140i, M240i and 440i. BMW set the F30 340i's factory calibration at 326 bhp / 450 Nm, a more conservative software limiter than the M140i and M240i. The hardware is identical, which is why BMW 340i tuning with Samuel targets the same Stage 1 figure as the rest of the family. BMW 340i F30 tuning and BMW 340i F31 tuning use the same map; only the build sheet differs slightly for the Touring exhaust geometry.
Stage 1
420 bhp · 600 Nm
No hardware required. The MG1CS003 / MEVD17 DME is flashed via the OBD port, boost, ignition timing, fuel delivery and torque limiters all revised. BMW 340i Stage 1 unlocks 420 bhp / 600 Nm from the OEM hardware (up from 326 / 450 stock), making it one of the largest stock-hardware Stage 1 gains in the BMW range because BMW's factory limiter on the 340i is so conservative. The BMW 340i chip tuning starting point for almost every owner.
Every 340i tune Samuel produces is calibrated individually for the specific car, fuel grade and installed hardware, not a base map loaded and left. BMW 340i tuning done correctly accounts for the F30 chassis weight, the 8HP gearbox calibration and UK fuel quality; the map is reviewed against your data logs after the first flash and revised before sign-off.

FAQ
340i tuning — frequently asked questions
340i Stage 1 lifts the B58 Gen 1 from a stock 326 bhp · 450 Nm to 420 bhp · 600 Nm, with no hardware required. The map is flashed through the OBD port on BM3, MHD or MG Flasher and is the starting point for almost every 340i owner — broader torque and sharper throttle response from the factory hardware.
This page covers the F30 Saloon and F31 Touring (F30 / F31). They share the B58 Gen 1 engine and run the same core calibration, but every 340i tune Samuel delivers is tailored to your exact car, fuel grade and installed hardware — never a base map loaded and left.
Stage 2 on the 340i targets 450 bhp · 650 Nm and needs downpipe (OPF delete if 2018+) + intake or panel filter. Everything else — turbo, fuel system, intercooler — holds within the Stage 2 figures on the B58 Gen 1.
On the right hardware spec the B58 Gen 1 in the 340i reaches around 1000 bhp. Stage 1 and Stage 2 run the standard turbo; beyond that needs a hybrid or full big-turbo conversion with supporting fuelling, and the calibration is built bespoke per car.
Remotely. Once Samuel has your build details, the calibrated 340i map is delivered to your flashing tool account (BM3, MHD or MG Flasher) within 24 hours and you flash it yourself over OBD in about 15 minutes. It's fully reversible — the original B58 Gen 1 stock file is supplied before you flash, so the car can return to factory at any time.
A factory warranty can be voided if BMW shows a tune caused a specific failure, so it's a personal call. Samuel's 340i maps are calibrated to stay within the mechanical limits of the B58 Gen 1 hardware, and because the tune is reversible to stock before any dealer visit, many owners run a tuned 340i without issue.
