MG Flasher in plain terms.

MG Flasher is a mobile ECU flashing and tuning app for supported BMW, Mini and Toyota Supra vehicles. The platform covers Gen 1 and Gen 2 B46, B48 and B58 engines, plus S58 and S63 applications.

Available for Android and iOS. Designed around OBD flashing, logging and a strong set of mobile-tuning workflows — including some of the best custom-code options on any of the BMW platforms.

What each feature actually does.

ECU flashing

Flash supported MG1 ECUs through OBD once the vehicle is compatible and unlocked where required. Tuning software is installed, updated and revised without removing the ECU.

Datalogging

Records boost, throttle closure, timing, knock, lambda, fuel pressure, torque limits, ethanol content and more. Every custom MG Flasher revision is reviewed against real ECU data.

Switchable maps on-the-fly

Switch between map slots without re-flashing — using steering-wheel controls or the in-app diagnostic menu on supported cars. Pump fuel, ethanol, race fuel, low/high boost, valet, track, drag.

Flex fuel

Compatible cars adjust calibration based on real-time ethanol content. No manual flashing every time the blend changes.

Dynamic burble adjustment

On supported Gen 1 and Gen 2 B48, B58 and S58 BMWs — change burble intensity using cruise-control button combinations, with multiple switchable levels including burble off.

Exhaust flap control

Adjustable exhaust valve behaviour. Useful for switching between quieter daily driving and a more aggressive sound when wanted.

Max cooling mode

Useful for hard driving, track use, drag racing or high-temperature conditions where cooling performance matters.

Anti-lag

For setups where boost response matters — drag, roll-race, hybrid and big-turbo builds. Configured around your actual hardware and intended use.

Torque by gear

Adjust torque delivery per gear — strong for traction management, drag racing, roll racing and high-power builds where the lower gears go traction-limited.

Valet mode

Limit vehicle performance when someone else is driving — valet, garage, parking services or any situation where full power is not required.

OTS-style MG Flasher maps work on a near-stock car. They are not built around your engine, your fuel, your turbo or your datalogs — and on the more advanced platforms that quickly becomes the limit.

Stage 1

Mostly standard, more performance

M140i, M240i, 340i, 440i, 330i, 230i, G80 M3, G82 M4, G87 M2, F90 M5, Supra 3.0, Mini Cooper S and JCW. Improved power and drivability without major hardware.

Stage 2

With supporting hardware

Downpipe, intake, charge pipe, intercooler, exhaust, upgraded fuel pump, plugs, cooling — the calibration takes advantage of the upgraded hardware. Strong on B48, B58, S58, S63 and Supra.

Stage 3 / Custom

Hybrid + big-turbo builds

A generic file is rarely the right answer for a larger turbo — airflow, boost control and torque behaviour change completely. Custom MG Flasher calibration is built around your actual turbo, fuel system, boost response and datalogs.

Remote tuning

How a tune goes from request to drive.

  1. Step 01

    Get the right hardware

    You'll need the correct MG Flasher hardware to connect to the car — typically the MG Flasher ENET WiFi adapter. Available directly from this site.

  2. Step 02

    Set up the app & license

    Install MG Flasher, register your vehicle and activate the licence covering your engine family.

  3. Step 03

    Check ECU unlock

    Newer BMW G-series and modern Bosch MG1/MD1 ECUs need to be unlocked first. If yours is locked, that step happens before any flashing.

  4. Step 04

    Flash the first file

    Samuel issues your first calibration file. You flash it through MG Flasher from your phone.

  5. Step 05

    Record datalogs

    You drive the car under the requested conditions and record the datalogs Samuel asks for.

  6. Step 06

    Receive revisions

    Samuel reviews the logs, refines the calibration and sends a revised file. You re-flash and run another log set.

  7. Step 07

    Finalise the tune

    Once the data shows the car behaving exactly as it should, the calibration is finalised and you keep driving.

ECU unlock

Some ECUs need unlocking first.

Newer BMW G-series cars, S58 models, S63 models and modern Bosch MG1/MD1 ECUs typically need to be unlocked before MG Flasher can flash them. If yours is locked, MG Flasher won't write any tuning software until the unlock is completed (in-house or via FEMTO/Autotuner depending on the ECU).
